What To Do Until We Arrive

A few quick steps can limit the damage:

  • Shut off the water. Use the main shutoff valve, usually where the water line enters the house or near the water heater.
  • Turn off the water heater if it is leaking. Switch off the power on electric units or set gas units to “pilot” or “off.”
  • Stop using drains if sewage is backing up.
  • If you smell gas, leave the building and call your gas provider or 911 from a safe place.

What counts as a plumbing emergency?
Burst pipes, major leaks, sewer backups, no water, a leaking water heater and any suspected gas leak are emergencies. If water or sewage is causing damage, call right away.

Where is my main water shutoff?
It is usually where the water line enters the house, in a basement or crawl space, near the water heater or in a box near the street. We can show you where yours is.

Do you charge more for after-hours service?
